Subject: Re: [VINUX-SUPPORT] Re: No braille in virtual machine
Yes, all USB devices attached to a system can either be connected to
either the Windows host or to the Vinux guest, but it will never work
with both at the same time. This has to be done through the menus. The
exceptions to this are USB keyboards and mouse. For convenience, all
such devices, no matter how many or type, all are connected and
disconnected using either the keyboard shortcuts or the mouse click or
movement equivalents. I do not think VMware recognizes any other type
of USB device as an input device and treat it as a keyboard or mouse, so
it can switch them with the keyboard. I think devices such as graphics
tablets and braille keyboards are out of luck and need to be switched
separately through the Removable Devices menus. If this is a big issue,
I can ask if it is possible for braille displays to ve connected /
disconnected along with the keyboards in the VMware forum or possibly
request this feature in the future.

I have found that adding the Shift key to the disconnect sequence almost
entirely eliminates the times that the Alt or Control keys get stuck.
This also allowed me to use the Alt + Control + F1 sequence in Vinux.
Even though Vinux also uses Alt + Control + Shift + Left or Right Arrow
to move a window to another desktop, I have not found any Vinux key
bindings that conflict with using Alt + Control + Shift as the VMware
release hotkey. To add the Shift key to this sequence, do the following:

1. Open Windows Explorer to the VMware settings directory. Press
Windows + r, for the run command and type:

%AppData%\VMware\

2. Now edit the "preferences.ini" file and add the following line to
the bottom of the file:

pref.hotkey.shift = "true"

In the Vinux Virtual Editions, There is a batch file to help you do
this. The instructions in the documentation explains how to do this.
This works for Workstation and Player.
