Subject: [VINUX-SUPPORT] Re: No braille in virtual machine

Okay, after some more experimentation on my Windows 7 64-bit machine with
JAWS 13 here is what I did:

I first disconnected and re-connected the Pacmate display in the VMWare
settings for the Vinux machine.

After I did this a few times, VMWare finally reported that it was
disconnecting the USB PacMate display from my Windows PC so that it could
connect to the Vinux machine.

When I hit control+G to get into the virtual machine, Braille was working in
Vinux.

When I hit control+alt to go back to windows, Braille was no longer connected
to the Windows PC (although JAWS was speaking).

After shutting down the virtual machine and re-starting JAWS, Braille worked
in Windows again.

Now when I turn on the VMWare Player and re-sart Vinux, braile is
disconnected from Windows and works again in Vinux. However, control of the
Braille display is not returned to windows when hitting control+Alt to get into
Windows.

Thus it appears that the Braille display can either be connected to one
machine or the other - Windows or Vinux - and won't work in both machines for
some reason.

Also, there are a few other strange things:

1. When I get out of the virtual machine with control+Alt, sometimes
the keystrokes I hit in Windows make it look like a key is stuck. For example,
when I hit the "insert" key on the keypad to use with JAWS, JAWS speaks and
thinks that I hit the "control" key. I have to restart JAWS to get the keys to
respond properly.

2. Another odd thing is that even when in Windows (particularly in the
VMWare Player but not using the virtual machine), I will all of a sudden hear
the Vinux speech voice talking along with the JAWS voice.

Somehow it seems like the VMWare player is not always negotiating between
Windows and the virtual machine properly.

Anyway, at least Braille is working now under some restrictive conditions.

Thanks.
